Research

Objective:
Fusing biomedicine and optics using novel optical tools to tackle diagnostic and measurement problems in biomedicine.

Advantages of optical approaches:

  • High resolution (~ mm), high sensitivity (~ nm or less)
  • Non-invasive, non-destructive
  • Wide range of light-matter interactions to exploit
  • Fluorescence, Raman, non-linear light generation, …
  • Coherence phenomena
