Research
Objective: Fusing biomedicine and optics using novel optical tools to tackle diagnostic and measurement problems in biomedicine.
Advantages of optical approaches:
- High resolution (~ mm), high sensitivity (~ nm or less)
- Non-invasive, non-destructive
- Wide range of light-matter interactions to exploit
- Fluorescence, Raman, non-linear light generation, …
- Coherence phenomena
- Technological tools available from optical telecommunications
- Low cost
The major effort of this laboratory can be roughly divided into the following categories:
Coherence Domain Probing Systems
Nanophotonics and Optofluidics
Turbidity Suppression by Optical Phase Conjugation in Biological Media
